I was there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I once sat in a hospital hallway, holding a diagnosis in my hands, my mind completely blank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That night, I held my seven-year-old child until he fell asleep. Then I cried alone for a long time. I wasn’t afraid of the pain. I was afraid that he would lose his mother, that his childhood would become a dark hole he could never climb out of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For days, I woke up in fear. At 3 a.m., I would type into the search bar: “How long do I have left?” Then I would just stare at the screen, motionless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I didn’t stay in that fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I started searching desperately\u2014for information, asking doctors, researching hospitals, asking everyone I could. I needed to find the best hospital and have the right surgery in the shortest time possible. Because I knew I had no time to be afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the end, at one of China’s top hospitals, I went from diagnosis to surgery in 15 days. I went through active treatment, completing chemotherapy and radiation. And now, I have passed my five-year survival mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I have walked that road. I know where the light is. I know what it feels like to cry alone in the middle of the night. I also know how hard it is to crawl out of that abyss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
