The fear of the unknown \u2014 it was even more unsettling than the surgery itself. So I went to see a professor at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I asked hesitantly: could I just do TCM instead? No chemo, no radiation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She rejected the idea immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was direct: for cancer treatment, you must follow the Western medical protocol first \u2014 to control the disease&#8217;s spread as quickly as possible. But TCM can play a crucial supporting role: reducing side effects, slowly rebuilding the body. Integrative medicine \u2014 that&#8217;s the way forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her words gave me clarity. I made my decision: I would follow her advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And so, my four-month chemotherapy journey began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before starting, I studied the process carefully. Each round required blood tests beforehand. If I stayed at Peking Union \u2014 a top-tier hospital with extreme resource constraints \u2014 I would need to shuttle between multiple departments two days before each infusion. The chemo itself would be done in the day-surgery unit, and I&#8217;d have to leave right after the drip. For someone whose body would gradually weaken, this was far from ideal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After weighing my options, I chose a top-tier hospital closer to home in Tianjin. Beds were more available. I could be admitted two days before each chemo session, and nurses would schedule and escort me to all the necessary tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking back, that decision was wise: choose the best hospital for surgery, the closest hospital for chemotherapy, and a specialized cancer center for radiation. I stayed on TCM throughout, which significantly reduced the side effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The First Four Rounds: My Body Held Up<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first four rounds were weekly. I was 45 then \u2014 my body still had some fight left. Reactions were mild. No nausea, no vomiting \u2014 probably thanks to the TCM. My appetite stayed strong; I even gained a little weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The only exception was my heart. For the 7 days following each infusion, my heart would act up: racing one moment, skipping a beat the next, sometimes pausing for just an instant. Those 7 days always felt like walking along an invisible edge \u2014 between here and somewhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To keep fear from taking over, I signed up for an online marketing course \u2014 filling my mind with something to focus on, leaving no room for anxiety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One more thing: I slept. A lot. It felt like I was catching up on all the sleep I&#8217;d missed in the first half of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Last Four Rounds: My Body Started Raising Alarms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last four rounds were every 14 days. Side effects hit in full force. My hair fell out in clumps. Eventually, even my eyebrows and eyelashes disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking at my bald reflection, I couldn&#8217;t help but laugh: I&#8217;m truly free of worldly attachments now \u2014 ready to become a nun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the sixth round onward, my body weakened noticeably. My white blood cell count dropped. CT scans showed ground-glass opacities in my lungs. My liver and kidney function markers went abnormal. Chemotherapy kills cancer cells \u2014 but it also takes a toll on every other cell in your body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there was one unexpected piece of good news. Because I was on TCM alongside chemo, my doctor was surprised to find that the nodules in my left breast \u2014 the one that hadn&#8217;t been operated on \u2014 had also disappeared. A silver lining, if there ever was one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Eight Rounds Complete: Everything Was Reborn<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eight rounds. I went from a full head of black hair to a completely bald scalp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cancer cells were gone. And in the process, every other cell in my body had been reborn \u2014 countless times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each round of chemo, including tests, cost about 3,000 RMB. Eight rounds totaled 24,000 RMB \u2014 roughly $3,500 USD. Of that, 85% was covered by China&#8217;s social health insurance, and the remaining 15% by my private supplemental insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I didn&#8217;t pay a single dollar out of pocket. But I walked a full circle around the line between life and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I want to say is this: that road was hard. But it also showed me many things clearly. Fear is real. Pain is real. But rebirth is also real. As long as you&#8217;re willing to keep moving forward, a path will open beneath your feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-7e7d37c2\"><h2 class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u624b\u672f\u540e\uff0c\u534f\u548c\u533b\u9662\u7684\u4e73\u817a\u5916\u79d1\u533b\u751f\u6839\u636e\u75c5\u7406\u62a5\u544a\uff0c\u4e3a\u6211\u5236\u5b9a\u4e86\u540e\u7eed\u6cbb\u7597\u65b9\u6848\uff1a8\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u300128\u6b21\u653e\u7597\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca5\u5e74\u7684\u5185\u5206\u6ccc\u6cbb\u7597\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u8bf4\u5b9e\u8bdd\uff0c\u62ff\u5230\u65b9\u6848\u90a3\u5929\uff0c\u6211\u5fc3\u91cc\u53ea\u6709\u4e00\u4e2a\u5ff5\u5934\uff1a\u6015\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u6211\u5bf9\u653e\u7597\u3001\u5316\u7597\u4e00\u65e0\u6240\u77e5\uff0c\u90a3\u79cd\u201c\u672a\u77e5\u201d\u5e26\u6765\u7684\u6050\u60e7\uff0c\u751a\u81f3\u6bd4\u624b\u672f\u672c\u8eab\u66f4\u8ba9\u4eba\u4e0d\u5b89\u3002\u4e8e\u662f\u6211\u53bb\u627e\u4e86\u6210\u90fd\u4e2d\u533b\u836f\u5927\u5b66\u7684\u4e00\u4f4d\u6559\u6388\uff0c\u8bd5\u63a2\u7740\u95ee\uff1a\u80fd\u4e0d\u80fd\u53ea\u5403\u4e2d\u836f\u4fdd\u5b88\u6cbb\u7597\uff0c\u4e0d\u505a\u653e\u5316\u7597\uff1f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u5979\u5f53\u573a\u5426\u5b9a\u4e86\u6211\u7684\u60f3\u6cd5\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u5979\u8bf4\u5f97\u5f88\u76f4\u63a5\uff1a\u764c\u75c7\u6cbb\u7597\uff0c\u5fc5\u987b\u4f18\u5148\u542c\u4ece\u897f\u533b\u7684\u65b9\u6848\uff0c\u4ee5\u6700\u5feb\u901f\u5ea6\u63a7\u5236\u4f4f\u75be\u75c5\u7684\u6269\u6563\u3002\u4f46\u4e2d\u836f\u53ef\u4ee5\u4f5c\u4e3a\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u8f85\u52a9\u624b\u6bb5\uff0c\u5e2e\u52a9\u51cf\u5c11\u653e\u5316\u7597\u7684\u526f\u4f5c\u7528\uff0c\u6162\u6162\u8c03\u7406\u8eab\u4f53\u3002\u4e2d\u897f\u533b\u7ed3\u5408\uff0c\u6548\u679c\u4f1a\u66f4\u597d\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u5979\u7684\u8bdd\u8ba9\u6211\u5b89\u4e86\u5fc3\u3002\u6211\u51b3\u5b9a\uff1a\u542c\u5979\u7684\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u4e8e\u662f\uff0c\u6211\u5f00\u59cb\u4e86\u4e3a\u671f\u56db\u4e2a\u6708\u7684\u5316\u7597\u4e4b\u65c5\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u5f00\u59cb\u524d\uff0c\u6211\u4ed4\u7ec6\u7814\u7a76\u4e86\u5316\u7597\u7684\u6d41\u7a0b\u3002\u6bcf\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u524d\u90fd\u9700\u8981\u62bd\u8840\u68c0\u67e5\u7279\u5b9a\u6307\u6807\uff0c\u5982\u679c\u9009\u62e9\u534f\u548c\u8fd9\u6837\u8d44\u6e90\u7d27\u5f20\u7684\u9876\u7ea7\u533b\u9662\uff0c\u610f\u5473\u7740\u5316\u7597\u524d\u4e24\u5929\u8981\u5728\u51e0\u4e2a\u79d1\u5ba4\u4e4b\u95f4\u6765\u56de\u5954\u6ce2\uff0c\u800c\u5316\u7597\u5f53\u5929\u53ea\u80fd\u5728\u65e5\u95f4\u624b\u672f\u5ba4\u8f93\u6db2\uff0c\u8f93\u5b8c\u5c31\u5f97\u8d70\u3002\u5bf9\u4e8e\u8eab\u4f53\u4f1a\u9010\u6e10\u865a\u5f31\u7684\u6211\u6765\u8bf4\uff0c\u8fd9\u663e\u7136\u4e0d\u662f\u6700\u4f18\u89e3\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u6743\u8861\u4e4b\u540e\uff0c\u6211\u9009\u62e9\u4e86\u5bb6\u9644\u8fd1\u7684\u4e00\u5bb6\u5929\u6d25\u4e09\u7532\u533b\u9662\u3002\u8fd9\u91cc\u5e8a\u4f4d\u4e0d\u7d27\u5f20\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u6839\u636e\u8eab\u4f53\u72b6\u51b5\u9009\u62e9\u4f4f\u9662\u65f6\u95f4\u3002\u6bcf\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u524d\u4e24\u5929\u529e\u7406\u4f4f\u9662\uff0c\u6240\u6709\u68c0\u67e5\u90fd\u7531\u62a4\u58eb\u63d0\u524d\u9884\u7ea6\u3001\u966a\u540c\u5b8c\u6210\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u56de\u8fc7\u5934\u770b\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e2a\u9009\u62e9\u975e\u5e38\u660e\u667a\u2014\u2014\u624b\u672f\u9009\u6700\u597d\u7684\u533b\u9662\uff0c\u5316\u7597\u9009\u6700\u8fd1\u7684\u533b\u9662\u4f4f\u9662\u6cbb\u7597\uff0c\u653e\u7597\u9009\u6280\u672f\u6210\u719f\u7684\u4e13\u79d1\u533b\u9662\u3002\u540c\u65f6\u575a\u6301\u670d\u7528\u4e2d\u836f\uff0c\u6700\u5927\u7a0b\u5ea6\u51cf\u8f7b\u4e86\u6cbb\u7597\u8fc7\u7a0b\u4e2d\u7684\u526f\u4f5c\u7528\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u524d\u56db\u6b21\u5316\u7597\uff1a\u8eab\u4f53\u8fd8\u7b97\u625b\u5f97\u4f4f<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u524d\u56db\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u6bcf7\u5929\u4e00\u6b21\uff0c\u90a3\u65f6\u621145\u5c81\uff0c\u8eab\u4f53\u5e95\u5b50\u8fd8\u5728\uff0c\u53cd\u5e94\u4e0d\u7b97\u5927\u3002\u6ca1\u6709\u865a\u5f31\u611f\uff0c\u4e5f\u6ca1\u6709\u6076\u5fc3\u5455\u5410\u2014\u2014\u53ef\u80fd\u56e0\u4e3a\u4e00\u76f4\u5728\u559d\u4e2d\u836f\uff0c\u98df\u6b32\u751a\u81f3\u6bd4\u751f\u75c5\u524d\u8fd8\u597d\u4e86\u4e00\u70b9\uff0c\u4f53\u91cd\u8fd8\u6da8\u4e86\u51e0\u65a4\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u552f\u4e00\u7684\u5f02\u5e38\u662f\u5fc3\u810f\u3002\u6bcf\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u540e\u76847\u5929\u5185\uff0c\u5fc3\u810f\u603b\u662f\u4e0d\u592a\u5b89\u5206\uff1a\u65f6\u800c\u8df3\u5f97\u5feb\uff0c\u65f6\u800c\u6162\u534a\u62cd\uff0c\u6709\u65f6\u751a\u81f3\u4f1a\u6709\u77ac\u95f4\u7684\u505c\u987f\u611f\u3002\u90a3\u79cd\u611f\u89c9\uff0c\u5c31\u50cf\u8fd97\u5929\u91cc\u59cb\u7ec8\u6e38\u8d70\u5728\u4e00\u6761\u770b\u4e0d\u89c1\u7684\u8fb9\u754c\u4e0a\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u4e3a\u4e86\u4e0d\u8ba9\u81ea\u5df1\u88ab\u90a3\u79cd\u6050\u60e7\u541e\u566c\uff0c\u6211\u7ed9\u81ea\u5df1\u62a5\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u7ebf\u4e0a\u7f51\u7edc\u8425\u9500\u8bfe\u7a0b\u2014\u2014\u7528\u5b66\u4e60\u6765\u586b\u6ee1\u5927\u8111\uff0c\u4e0d\u7ed9\u6050\u60e7\u7559\u7a7a\u95f4\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u6574\u4e2a\u5316\u7597\u671f\u95f4\uff0c\u6211\u8fd8\u6709\u4e00\u4e2a\u660e\u663e\u7684\u611f\u89c9\uff1a\u55dc\u7761\u3002\u597d\u50cf\u628a\u524d\u534a\u8f88\u5b50\u6b20\u4e0b\u7684\u89c9\uff0c\u90fd\u5728\u90a3\u51e0\u4e2a\u6708\u91cc\u4e00\u53e3\u6c14\u8865\u4e86\u56de\u6765\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u540e\u56db\u6b21\u5316\u7597\uff1a\u8eab\u4f53\u5f00\u59cb\u62a5\u8b66<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u540e\u9762\u56db\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u6539\u6210\u4e8614\u5929\u4e00\u6b21\u3002\u526f\u4f5c\u7528\u5f00\u59cb\u5168\u9762\u663e\u73b0\u2014\u2014\u5934\u53d1\u4e00\u628a\u4e00\u628a\u5730\u6389\uff0c\u6700\u540e\u8fde\u7709\u6bdb\u3001\u773c\u776b\u6bdb\u90fd\u6389\u5149\u4e86\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u770b\u7740\u955c\u5b50\u91cc\u5149\u79c3\u79c3\u7684\u81ea\u5df1\uff0c\u6211\u5fcd\u4e0d\u4f4f\u60f3\uff1a\u8fd9\u4e0b\u771f\u7684\u662f\u516d\u6839\u6e05\u51c0\u4e86\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u76f4\u63a5\u51fa\u5bb6\u4e3a\u5c3c\u4e86\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u4ece\u7b2c\u516d\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u5f00\u59cb\uff0c\u8eab\u4f53\u660e\u663e\u865a\u5f31\u4e0b\u6765\u3002\u767d\u7ec6\u80de\u4e0b\u964d\uff0cCT\u663e\u793a\u80ba\u90e8\u51fa\u73b0\u78e8\u73bb\u7483\u5f71\uff0c\u809d\u80be\u529f\u80fd\u6307\u6807\u4e5f\u51fa\u73b0\u5f02\u5e38\u3002\u5316\u7597\u5728\u6740\u6b7b\u764c\u7ec6\u80de\u7684\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u786e\u5b9e\u6beb\u65e0\u5dee\u522b\u5730\u628a\u5168\u8eab\u7ec6\u80de\u90fd\u7b5b\u4e86\u4e00\u904d\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u4f46\u4e5f\u6709\u4e00\u4ef6\u610f\u6599\u4e4b\u5916\u7684\u597d\u4e8b\u2014\u2014\u56e0\u4e3a\u540c\u65f6\u5728\u670d\u7528\u4e2d\u836f\uff0c\u52a0\u4e0a\u5316\u7597\u7684\u4f5c\u7528\uff0c\u533b\u751f\u60ca\u559c\u5730\u53d1\u73b0\uff0c\u6211\u5de6\u4fa7\u672a\u505a\u624b\u672f\u7684\u4e73\u623f\u91cc\u7684\u7ed3\u8282\u4e5f\u6d88\u5931\u4e86\u3002\u8fd9\u5927\u6982\u7b97\u662f\u201c\u4e0d\u5e78\u4e2d\u7684\u4e07\u5e78\u201d\u5427\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u516b\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u7ed3\u675f\uff1a\u4e00\u5207\u90fd\u91cd\u751f\u4e86<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u516b\u4e2a\u7597\u7a0b\u7ed3\u675f\uff0c\u6211\u4ece\u4e00\u4e2a\u6ee1\u5934\u9ed1\u53d1\u7684\u4eba\uff0c\u53d8\u6210\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u5149\u79c3\u79c3\u7684\u5927\u5149\u5934\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u764c\u7ec6\u80de\u88ab\u6740\u6b7b\u4e86\uff0c\u5168\u8eab\u7684\u7ec6\u80de\u4e5f\u8ddf\u7740\u91cd\u751f\u4e86\u65e0\u6570\u6b21\u3002\u6211\u77e5\u9053\uff0c\u90a3\u4e2a\u5d2d\u65b0\u7684\u8eab\u4f53\uff0c\u662f\u62ff\u547d\u6362\u6765\u7684\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u6574\u4e2a\u6cbb\u7597\u8fc7\u7a0b\uff0c\u6bcf\u6b21\u5316\u7597\u52a0\u68c0\u67e5\u8d39\u7528\u7ea63000\u5143\u4eba\u6c11\u5e01\uff0c8\u6b21\u4e00\u517124000\u5143\uff0c\u7ea6\u54083500\u7f8e\u5143\u3002\u5176\u4e2d85%\u7531\u6211\u56fd\u7684\u793e\u4f1a\u533b\u7597\u4fdd\u9669\u652f\u4ed8\uff0c\u5269\u4f59\u768415%\u7531\u6211\u8d2d\u4e70\u7684\u5546\u4e1a\u4fdd\u9669\u8986\u76d6\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u6211\u6ca1\u6709\u82b1\u4e00\u5206\u94b1\uff0c\u5374\u5728\u751f\u6b7b\u8fb9\u7f18\u6e38\u8d70\u4e86\u4e00\u5708\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u4f46\u6211\u60f3\u8bf4\u7684\u662f\uff1a\u90a3\u6761\u8def\u867d\u7136\u96be\u8d70\uff0c\u4f46\u4e5f\u8ba9\u6211\u770b\u6e05\u4e86\u5f88\u591a\u4e1c\u897f\u3002\u6050\u60e7\u662f\u771f\u5b9e\u7684\uff0c\u75db\u82e6\u662f\u771f\u5b9e\u7684\uff0c\u4f46\u91cd\u751f\u4e5f\u662f\u771f\u5b9e\u7684\u3002\u53ea\u8981\u4f60\u613f\u610f\u5f80\u524d\u8d70\uff0c\u603b\u4f1a\u6709\u4e00\u6761\u8def\u5728\u811a\u4e0b\u5c55\u5f00\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
